About 50x15 Solutions Partners
Nedbank
Nedbank and AMD create sustainable computer labs in South African schools.

As one of the country’s leading financial institutions, the Nedbank Group embraces its responsibility to help meet the challenge of providing all South African children with a good education. Through its focus on rural school development, the Nedbank Foundation, the corporate social responsibility wing of the Nedbank Group, has invested millions to provide better learning facilities for some of the country’s most needy communities.

To build on these efforts, Nedbank sought to create a technology solution to serve as a scalable model for sustainable computer labs in South African schools. Inspired by the successes of the 50x15 Initiative in Uganda as part of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) initiative, Nedbank collaborated with AMD to emulate the NEPAD e-School Uganda 50x15 Learning Labs in the Nelson Mandela High School in Crossways Gugulethu. This learning lab served as a model for additional learning lab replications and in less than a year’s time, AMD and Nedbank made significant progress in reducing costs and accelerating installation times for additional labs recently completed the North West Province of Johannesberg.
