Sun Taps AMD Technology for Digital Inclusion in Mexico
Sun Microsystems, one of AMD's largest customers and a staunch supporter of 50x15, has announced plans deliver more than 27,000 AMD OpteronTM processor-based Sun UltraTM 20 Workstations and five years of Sun services as part of a $400 million contract to help bridge the digital divide in Mexican education. The agreement, the largest education deal for Sun in Latin America to date, is a component of the Mexican Ministry of Education's national Enciclomedia project, which aims to offer computer technology to fifth- and six-grade classrooms in Mexico's national public school system.

India's Minister of Communications & Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran, has unveiled a low-cost PC based on x86 microprocessor technology provided by AMD and HCL, a leading Indian computer manufacturer.
