Dear Colleague,

I can think of no better way to describe the past year than to share with you the wisdom of four teenagers from a Public School in New Delhi. Asked to define what Dignity means for them during a December visit from Young Global Leaders, they answered, “Dignity re-defines a person’s identity. It is like a one-legged chair, when a person sits on it, he either topples or balances himself, it varies from person to person. Dignity is something like this. It is never lost. It just depends on the mindset of the person."

50x15 Partner Summit Brings Together Worldwide Digital Inclusion Leaders

The 50x15 Partner Summit, held Wednesday, Nov. 14 at AMD headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA, brought together current and prospective 50x15 Partners to discuss digital inclusion issues, the next phase of the 50x15 Partner Program, and the initiative’s comprehensive ecosystem approach to providing Internet access and computing capabilities to half the world by 2015.

In June, 50x15 director Dan Shine sat in a classroom in Amman, Jordan, impressed by the answers to this question provided by students at Al-Jubeiha Secondary School. The students, who ranged from age five to 12, provided enlightening and often wise perspectives regarding what "Dignity" meant for them.

Building Hope for India's Underprivileged

Two students introduced to computers in Fatehpur, India, are living proof that Digital Inclusion partnerships can transform lives.

Partnership leverages Information and Communication Technology to improve educational opportunities across South Africa.

Earlier this year, Nedbank, one of the largest retail banks in South Africa, chose to partner with 50x15 to deploy 50x15 Learning Labs across five schools in historically underserved South African communities. From science experiments to the latest geography maps to medicinal studies, technology in 50x15 Learning Labs provides teachers with access to a wealth of information via the Internet.
